Colors
Application For powdered colors liquefy with our Glass Medium, 1:1 to start. You are looking for the consistency of melted ice cream or heavy cream, and then add a drop or two of water as this makes the color flow a bit better. The color should self-level on your surface. If it does not you need more Glass Medium or water. If it is applied too thinly it will be streaky (which can be a technique also!). To check your application, view it from the underside of the glass and it should appear opaque. Colors can be thinned and then brushed, sponged, sprayed or applied with a pen. Mixed color can be stored indefinitely but will need to be stirred well as it tends to settle in the jar and my need a drop or two of Glass Medium or water. We have empty 1 ounce jars available under Specialty Items. Firing Average firing range is 1425°F to 1550°F in a glass or ceramic kiln. Colors will hold their vibrancy to a much higher temperature when used on ceramic, porcelain, terra cotta, etc.
